Souderton, PA – September 25th, 2008 – On Sunday, September 21st, the Pennridge Gallery of the Arts celebrated the 40th year of their arts festival under a beautiful sunny sky. Held from Noon until 5 PM on Main Street in the Sellersville Historic District, the Gallery of the Arts featured the work of 46 artists. John Moyer of Moyer Indoor Outdoor and Greg Grim, grandson to renowned local artist, Walter Baum, presented Sharon Merkel with the Walter Baum Best of Show Award for her photograph, Red Roof.

Doug Smith, the Gallery Director, expressed his thanks to all those involved in the event and said, “We are very grateful to Moyer Indoor Outdoor and their support of the Pennridge Gallery of the Arts each year. This is a great community event – we have the Quakertown Band Concert, children’s activities, a food court, and, of course, the wonderful arts and crafts on exhibit.” Smith continues, “These events are important for our community – and they couldn’t take place without the help of businesses like Moyer.”

John Moyer, who presented the winner, Sharon Merkel, the Best of Show Award for her photograph Red Roof, said, “At Moyer we believe it’s extremely important to support the arts in our community. Arts are an important reflection of how we experience life – that’s why Moyer will continue to support important events such as the Pennridge Gallery of the Arts.” This year Moyer Indoor Outdoor sponsored all nineteen artist awards in each category, including Best of Show.

Sharon Merkel, Best of Show winner, said of the festival “It’s great to have the support of my community. The winning photograph, Red Roof, is a part of my thesis project towards my degree in photography. ” Continuing, Merkel noted, “I have the support of my family, friends and the great people at Moyer. It means a lot.”
