Moyer Indoor Outdoor Celebrates 11 Years
of Community Reading Day

Six Moyer Indoor Outdoor representatives participated in the 11th Annual Community Reading day, sponsored by the Penn Suburban Chamber of Commerce, in six different local elementary schools throughout the Souderton School District. Teachers, children and volunteers look forward to this program every year.

Jim Church, who has participated in this event for over seven years, read Duck at the Door to the second grade class; sounds of laughter filled the room as he encouraged the students to “quack”. “They’re so sharp compared to when I was a kid; it’s unbelievable!” On Jim’s way out he forgot his umbrella, as he reentered the classroom he yelled “Quack, Quack, I’m Back”. Excited to see him, the students said “Mr. Church is going to read us another book!” “It’s so important to have adults from the community come in, read and talk about the significance of a lifetime filled with books,” said Ellen Albright a second grade teacher at Oak Ridge Elementary.

Students were given bookmarkers and Phillies Reading Tickets donated by The Penn Suburban Chamber of Commerce as well as, the storybooks read by Moyer Indoor Outdoor employees, which were donated to the schools’ libraries.

Sponsored by Penn Suburban Chamber of Commerce, there were 35 public and private schools in Methacton, North Penn, Souderton, Wissahicken, and Whitpan School Districts that participated. Since this program was initiated, Moyer Indoor Outdoor has been privileged to be part of each annual reading day. Staying active as positive influences within the community, is an important commitment to Moyer Indoor Outdoor.
