Runners of all ages raced through the streets of Souderton on Wednesday, July 12th for the twelfth annual running of the Moyer 5K. The festivities began at the Souderton Park with the kid's fun run. Children of all ages raced through the 1k course with the shouts and cheers of friends and family along the way. Prior to the start of the 5k race and 2k walk, hundreds of anxious participants and spectators took part in the singing of the national anthem, while viewing the American Flag—a flag that was sent specifically for this race by a fellow runner now serving in Iraq. The course was lined with volunteers, friends and neighbors who managed water stations, directed traffic, performed music, and cheered for the hundreds of participants. In the 5k run, Joe Dare, won the 5k Race with a time of 15:21. The overall women's winner was Alexis Flores with a time of 18:35. “Every year we are excited to see even larger numbers come out and be part of this event. All of the volunteers, the sponsors, and of course the participants make this event a continued success to support the Souderton Area School District Moyer & Son Cross Country Scholarship and Concert Sundaes in the Park,” stated Bob Williamson, General Manager, Moyer & Son Home Services and race director.
