Nearly 500 runners and walkers of all ages participated in the Moyer & Son 5k on Wednesday, July 11th. This year’s event began at the Souderton Park with the kid's fun run—a run that continues to grow each year, where children up to 12 years of age raced through the 1k course to collect their race metal and freeze pop at the finish line. This year, Moyer & Son offered a training program for their employees, to encourage them to participate in the event. 12 employees participated in the company-sponsored training program, led by Heidi Rader, a personal trainer from Genesis Fitness Center. Each employee met for six consecutive weeks to train for the 5k. Congratulations to Dave Florida and Lori Gerhart, who were the first male and female run winners from Moyer & Son. “Seeing our employees get involved at this level was very exciting. It was a lot of hard work and dedication to stick with the program, but the results proved very positive for everyone involved,” stated Bob Williamson, General Manager, Moyer & Son Home Services and race director. Joe Dare, won the 5k Race with a time of 15:12. The overall women's winner was Alexis Flores with a time of 18:55. All of the volunteers, sponsors, and the participants, make this event a continued success to support the Souderton Area School District Moyer & Son Cross Country Scholarship and Concert Sundaes in the Park.
