As this summer has strummed along, so has Souderton’s annual “Concert Sundaes” in the park. For the past ten weeks, from June 3rd through August 5th, neighbors and visitors have been entertained with music and ice cream while sprawling out across the grassy yard on their blankets and lawn chairs; some gathered with their families on one of the many picnic tables. This year, just as the 21 past, has been memorable for those spending their Sunday evenings listening to musical talents and watching the younger generations play among the fireflies and smile wide grins as they enjoy sundaes made just for them. Concert Sundaes is brought to Souderton every year by the Concert Sundae Committee, which is part of the Indian Valley Arts Foundation. Moyer & Son Inc, a huge supporter of the Arts Foundation across many diverse events held throughout the year, is also a key fundraiser for Sundaes in the Park. Moyer & Son has been a supporter since the very beginning, 21 years ago. The raised donations continue to help keep this annual festivity a part of the Souderton community. This year, during the intermission of “Fred’s Mobile Home” a four piece band performing traditional and contemporary bluegrass, folk, country and swing, Moyer & Son presented a $1,000.00 check to Jon Leight of the Concert Sundae Committee who is also a Board Member of Indian Valley Arts Foundation. Jim Church, Moyer & Son Public Service representative presented the check that was raised with the 13th annual Moyer 5K race. “Presenting this check is a honor.” Said Church. “I love Concert Sundaes, the community loves Concert Sundaes, and we at Moyer & Son hope it will be around for years to come. Sundaes in the park is a tradition to the Souderton community and surrounding areas. We hope that it always is.” The money that was raised for donation this year was generated from 500 generous participants that ran on July 11th in the annual Moyer 5k. Bob Williamson, Moyer & Son Home Services General Manager is the man responsible for such an incredible outcome this year. “It’s a great event that supports another great event,” Williamson stated. He takes great pride as Race Director, showing year after year that the Moyer 5K is a highly appreciated event within the Souderton community.
