Souderton, PA – May 22, 2008 – Moyer Indoor Outdoor announces this year’s winner
of the Moyer Indoor Outdoor 5K T-shirt Design Contest, Brooke Harvey. A junior at Souderton High School, Brooke was one of thirty-six art students assigned the job of designing a T-shirt by art teacher, Ginny Perry. Says Perry of the assignment, “I gave the assignment so that my students would understand the demands of working at an advertising agency. I acted as the client. They were the designers. It was a great real-world experience.”

Inspired by the class’ studies of modern artist Peter Max, Brooke’s design, a solitary, steadfast runner heading into the landscape, will appear online, in newspapers and on over six hundred T-shirts. Said Brooke of her win, “Art has been my main focus. I’m hoping to attend the University of the Arts in the fall of 2010. So, it’s really great to be acknowledged. Especially with so many great designs entered.” Brooke also received a $100 Visa Debit Card for her dedication to art. Said Ed Cardell, Marketing Director of Moyer Indoor Outdoor, “The contest, which supports the 5K, is a great source of excitement for those who participate annually. It was hard to choose only one winner because all the entries were wonderful. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one choosing the winner!”

Held annually at Souderton’s Community Park, this year’s 5K Race is scheduled for Wednesday, July 9th. The race starts and ends near the Souderton Community Park entrance near Main Street. The festivities begin at 6 PM and end at 9 PM. All proceeds from the race benefit the Moyer Indoor Outdoor Souderton Area Cross Country Scholarship and Concert Sundaes. Whether you’re running the race, volunteering to work water stations, or coming down to enjoy the other planned activities that fill the park, it’s an event that’s well worth participating in.
