Moyer & Son, Inc. of Souderton, held their annual art competition between students in the Indian Crest Middle School for the design of the Moyer & Son 5K race t-shirt. This is the 3rd year that Moyer & Son has given this project to Junior High School students, presenting the selected winners with gift certificates to the Montgomery Mall. The first place winner is also awarded with the honor of having their artwork printed on over 600 t-shirts for the Moyer & Son 5K event. This year’s winners are Diego Brazzo, Abby Cook, and placing first, Jessica Polk. Ed Cardell, Director of Marketing for Moyer & Son Home Services, quoted as he met with this year’s winners, “Every year the designs we receive are excellent. Judging becomes harder and harder - I’m thankful that I’m not the only one that has to narrow down the contestants. We get a lot of help from the teachers!” The three placing finalists all expressed a continued interest in art. Diego is transferring next year to the North Montco Technical Career Center to study Commercial Art. Abby, modest in her talents, shared that although uncertain which subject she enjoys the most in school, art is important to her. Jessica, the first place winner of this years design, expressed sincere interest of following her passion into a career of graphic design. The Moyer & Son 5K race is held annually at Souderton’s Community Park, an event looked forward to by families and members of the area every year. Hundreds of people gather to participate, cheer everyone on, and volunteer. Whether you’re running the race, volunteering to work water stations, or coming down to enjoy the other planned activities that fill the park, it’s an event that’s well worth participating in. The race is scheduled to run on Wednesday, July 11th, starting and finishing at the Souderton Community Park. Festivities begin at 6:00 and will wrap up around 9:00.
