Friday, September 14th, Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce kicked off their 4th year of Community Leadership Institute classes. The class of 2008 introduced themselves to fellow classmates, instructors and speakers over a celebratory breakfast at Penn Foundation in Sellersville. Moyer & Son Inc, for the third consecutive year sponsored a member of the class. The Community Leadership Institute, part of the Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce, is the regions go-to place for people looking to develop their life and communicative skills. It’s a place designated to helping people efficiently excel within their established organizations as well as to prepare them for volunteerism throughout the community. Working to enrich the economic situations of families through education and important life skills, the Chamber is an important part of the surrounding community. It offers an array of services ranging from arts and culture, to human services and legislative systems, all geared toward building a stronger, healthier, more stable community through volunteerism. During this year’s breakfast welcome ceremony, 17 new class members were introduced. They will begin classes this month and finish the program in June 2008. Classes will meet once a month for a full day of study, concentrating on areas of medical, arts, government, and non-profit organizations. Upon graduation from the program, members are required to serve a three-year term on a local non-profit committee. Moyer & Son Inc for the past three years has had representation in the program. Previously, two employees have graduated from the program, going on to support the community by involving themselves in local non-profit organizations. Kahari Trawick, Transportation Manager with Moyer & Son is one of the 17 new students expected to graduate in June 2008.
