Souderton, PA – May 27, 2008 – Seven Moyer Indoor Outdoor representatives participated in the 10th Annual Community Reading day, sponsored by the North Penn Chamber of Commerce, in seven different local elementary schools throughout the Souderton School District. Six of the seven reading volunteers have participated for more than two years. Eager teachers, children and volunteers look forward to this program every year. One of Moyer’s volunteers, Sheridan Ficarro, taught the kids how to make fish faces while reading Three Little Fish to the class. Afterward, Sheridan spent time discussing how an angry shark would sound and finished with a rousing rendition of the theme song from the TV Show, Sponge Bob Square Pants and the entire class joined in. Another volunteer, Joe Serrill, read Building the Empire State Building. During Joe’s reading, one little girl asked, “It took a lot of team work to build the building, right?” Joe answered, “Team work is not only for an athletic team, team work is a part of almost everything you do.” Of his experience, Joe said, “I loved it. I can’t wait to help out again next year.” The students were each given bookmarkers, Reading Phillies Tickets donated by The North Penn Chamber of Commerce and copies of the books read by Moyer Indoor Outdoor employees. The books were donated to the schools’ classrooms. Sponsored by The North Penn Chamber of Commerce, there were 35 public and private schools in Methacton, North Penn, Souderton, Wissahickon, and Whitpain School Districts that participated. Since this program was initiated, Moyer Indoor Outdoor has been privileged to be part of each annual reading day. Staying active as positive influences within the community, is an important commitment to Moyer Indoor Outdoor.
