On March 6, 2007, the Montgomery County Office of Mental Retardation presented Moyer & Son, Inc. with their annual “Employer of the Year” award for their partnership in vocational training with Indian Creek Industries. This recognition was part of their annual awards luncheon, where more than 450 attendees gathered to support the efforts for Mental Retardation Awareness in Montgomery County. “Moyer & Son, Inc. has incorporated people with mental retardation into the fabric of the workplace and assisted them to receive appropriate training and employment,” states Betty Giuliano, Director Vocational Services, Indian Creek Foundation. Giuliano commented “With a goal of community employment for individuals with developmental disabilities, Indian Creek Industries partners with Moyer & Son Inc. and their team, to help us in our mission to provide vocational training. Currently the individuals served by Indian Creek Industries handle all aspects of mail operations for Moyer & Son, Inc. This includes printing and separating billing invoices, preparing advertisements & brochures for mailing to customers, putting mail through the postage meter and delivery to the post office.” Employees from Moyer & Son have served the Indian Creek Foundation on the Board of Directors, volunteered for special events, and continue to play an active role in promoting annual fund raising events. For the last several years, Moyer & Son has held a raffle at the Univest Grand Prix cycling event and has donated all proceeds to the Indian Creek Foundation. Montgomery County recognizes March as Mental Retardation Awareness Month through a series of events organized by consumers, families, service providers and elected officials. “It is an honor to receive this award,” stated Ed Cardell, Home Services Marketing Manager. “Indian Creek Foundation has played a vital role in the lives of hundreds of people in our community and we are glad that we are able to assist in their efforts,” commented Cardell.
