With every dark cloud there's a silver lining.

Ivan did it's best to put a damper on the Seventh Annual Univest Grand Prix. But    the race came off without a hitch and those spectators that braved the elements saw an incredible athletic event. Unfortunately, with the inclement weather, the number of spectators was not as good as anticipated.

Each year, during the race, volunteers from Moyer & Son operate a refreshment stand and hold a raffle to benefit Indian Creek Foundation. This year, they came prepared with Hot Dogs, Soft Pretzels, Sodas, Coffee, and Donuts (and rain suits). The coffee and hot chocolate were the big winners, but there were not many takers for the other food items.

Following the event, the Moyer & Son Indian Creek fund raising committee decided to extend the raffle for an additional week to make up some of the proceeds lost through the lack of food concession sales, but still had to do something with a significant amount of left over food.

Carol Hunsicker, Women's Auxiliary member with Souderton Fire Co. and employee of Moyer & Son Inc., suggested that the foods be donated to the North Penn Good Will Service. A quick contact to Debbie Wellington of the Corp, and the committee was able to deliver over 200 frozen hot dogs, rolls, many cases of soda and some bottled water.

The North Penn Good Will Service is headquartered in Souderton and provides support services for Fire and Rescue Personnel in a seven county area. They were very grateful for the contribution.
