Saturday September 8th, marked the 10th annual Univest Grand Prix weekend, one of the largest bicycle races in the Delaware Valley. The heat was fierce, yet record crowds gathered to cheer on racers from all over the world as they wound their way through downtown Souderton.

Moyer & Son, Inc has been a significant part of the Univest Grand Prix over the years. From the beginning of July through the final laps of the Univest race this year, Moyer & Son employees sold raffle tickets for the chance to win a variety of donations from local restaurants and theaters. All contributions were donated to the Indian Creek Foundation, an important non-profit organization in Souderton that serves community residents with special needs.

Winning names were drawn as racers crossed the finish line.

More then two-dozen employees volunteered their time to be part of this year’s festivities. They sold hotdogs, soft pretzels, sodas, water, coffee and donuts to raise additional money for Indian Creek. Combined proceeds from raffle sales and race day food sales totaled $3,200.

Moyer & Son presented this year’s donation to David Crossin, Executive Director for the Indian Creek Foundation.

Prizes to be raffled off this year were donated from an array of local theaters and restaurants including, Mainland Inn, Washington House, Sellersville Theater, Indian Valley Country Club, Arielle’s, Bay Pony Inn, Reliance Inn, Montgomery Theater, and Caboose Grille.

Indian Creek Foundation serves over 600 children and adults with special needs across Bucks and Montgomery Counties. They have been functioning in the Souderton area for over 30 years, helping those with developmental disabilities build independent, productive lives. They are dedicated to building meaningful relationships based on mutual respect and empowering others to feel secure in building nurturing bonds.
Indian Creek also sponsors their own unique race day event. Open to the public, they host what they call the “Cyclosportif 100K”. Participants can register to race either a 40 or 60 mile race that is identical to the course that the racers in the North America Pro Classic, or Univest Grand Prix, race. The Clyosportif 100K is held three hours prior and all contributions are kept to aid in the continued growth of Indian Creek to help meet community needs.

Moyer & Son thanks all the employees that made this year’s Univest Grand Prix race another amazing community event.
