Del Val students are volunteering in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi to take part in the redevelopment efforts of Tercentenary Park.

As a result of Hurricane Katrina, the Tercentenary Park, which honors the discovery of Bay St. Louis by French Explorers in 1699, suffered great damage. The statue of Jean Baptiste le Moyne survived the storm, but all of the landscaping, hardscaping, flagpoles, and the statue pedestal were destroyed.

“We were made aware of the redevelopment efforts through Normandy Gack, Project Coordinator for the Tercentenary Park Project and a Moyer & Son Lawn Irrigation Customer,” stated Tim Zepp, M&S Lawn Irrigation Supervisor. “When we found out that an irrigation system was needed for the redevelopment, we were eager to help.”

“We were happy to provide the engineering and coordination for the installation of the park’s irrigation system. Moyer & Son also provided and shipped all of the equipment and materials along with support and instruction for the volunteers. The project is going very well and is due to be completed in March,” commented Zepp.

The Tercentenary Park Projects is part of the Bucks Mont Katrina Relief Project, founded and funded by Philanthropist Robert Byers, who has provided assistance at many levels on this and many other projects.
