On Saturday, November 18, 2006, Moyer & Son once again participated in the Annual Mardi Gras parade in Lansdale Pa. sponsored and organized by the Lansdale JayCees. The event has a strong history and was attended by more than 20,000 spectators. In preparation for the day, the Pet & Animal Feeds group of Moyer & Son packaged and labeled over 5,000 sample bags of wild birdseed to be handed out to the crowd. Volunteer employees met a few hours before the parade start time to decorate the two newest Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning trucks with greens, wreaths, ribbons, and bows. Gary McMichael and Jon Blum, heating oil drivers, drove the trucks in the parade. Jon Harada, his wife Nicole, and Erin Crew, from The Store, staged the birdseed distribution from the back of the trucks. Thanks to Terri Moyer from Human Resources and her husband Tom, we got significant help from the fifth and sixth grade Sunday School Classes of the Souderton Mennonite Church. More than 14 children including those of employees passed birdseed samples and Store flyers to the delighted onlookers. Everyone wore Santa hats and Moyer & Son shirts. The weather was perfect. The employees, children and volunteers all had a good time. “Having employees step up and be involved in this and other community events speaks well of one or core values, “Serving the Community”.
