Friday, May 18th marked the opening of the James A. Michener Art Museum’s exhibit of “Realism and its Response”. The event was kicked off with a wonderful reception for Museum members and sponsors, who were all treated to free admission, wine, and hors d’oeuvres. Several hundred guests were in attendance for the opening. Jon Clemmer, John Moyer, and David Moyer, Managing Partners of Moyer & Son, Inc., enjoyed this exciting evening at the museum along with 200 invited guests made up of employees, associates, and friends. In addition to the reception, attendees were treated to viewing the entire museum and sculpture gardens. Moyer & Son is among the major contributors for this exhibit, joined by Audrey Long Interior Design, Kelchner’s Horseradish Products, The Freight House, and one anonymous sponsor. The event was hosted by Bruce Kastiff, Director/CEO, Brian Peterson, Senior Curator, Bettina Murdoch, Corporate Business Partners Chair of the James A. Michener Art Museum. The museum itself is an incredible place to visit. It’s a historical landmark perched right in the heart of Doylestown. Numerous galleries span the floors, displaying quilts, photography, paintings depicting all eras, and an impressive collection of the lifetime works of Mr. James A Michener, the celebrated local writer whom expressed his passions for life through both his writings and photography. Outside, gardens of abstract sculptures line the walks, inviting enthusiastic observers to engage in the full experience of this historical landmark. There is something here to entice all ages, from historical importance, impressive exhibits of fine art, and certainly this featured celebration of local artists.
