The Pest Control group has been offering Radon testing for the past few years. As of June 2006 we have started to install the Mitigation systems needed to relieve the Radon gas from the home. Andy Wedman will be heading up this part of our business. Andy has been with Moyer & Son for three years, coming to us when we purchased his Pest Control business, Humphrey’s Four Star back in 2003. Andy had to go through very strict testing in order to be licensed to install mitigation services. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection issues this certification. Our first installation was completed on May 31, 2006.

Radon gas in the home is believed to be the number two cause of lung cancer in this country; the history of this gas is only 24 years old, dating back to 1984. It was discovered in our back yard in Limerick, Pa. It is becoming an area of concern with every real estate transaction, as well as when homeowners convert basements into living spaces. One out of every five homes that Moyer & Son has tested for Radon gas has exceeded the maximum level of 4.0pCi/L; established by the Department of Environmental Protection.
