Pest Control

These ants drive me crazy, but the sprays I buy over the counter don’t work. Besides, I’m afraid to put poisons in my home. Help!

The most difficult ants to remove from your home are the odorous house ant, which smells like rotting coconut when crushed, and the carpenter ant, a large black or reddish wood-destroying insect. Odorous ants can detect over-the-counter products and will actually relocate to avoid them. Carpenter ants live in moist areas on your property (windows, gutters, plumbing leaks, sinks) in one to three satellites within 100 yards of a main colony—and all colonies must be treated to be effective. Treat just a satellite colony, and in six months they’ll be back.

All ants can over-winter in colonies outside in the soil, beneath your home’s foundation or somewhere warm. For the most effective treatment of either type of ant, we target outside areas with non-repellent products and baits. These are slow-acting so they reach all the colonies before they take effect—dramatically reducing your ant population without putting any chemicals inside your home.
